腹部肥胖可引致嚴重健康問題,腰臀比大者常有心血管疾病、代謝症候群、糖尿病、脂肪肝、阿茲海默症等疾病。腹部肥胖者,脂肪除了堆積於腹部皮下,也常堆積於腹腔與內臟,其靜脈通往肝門靜脈而進入肝臟,所釋出的脂肪酸會直接造成肝臟負擔。

Women whose waist measures more than 35 inches and men whose waist measures more than 40 inches are at higher risk. Losing weight can reduce belly fat and lower that risk!

To measure your waist correctly, stand and place a tape measure around your middle, just above your hipbones. Measure your waist just after you breathe out.

Abdominal obesity can cause serious health problems. People with a large waist-to-hip ratio often suffer from cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, fatty liver, Alzheimer’s disease and other diseases. In people with abdominal obesity, fat not only accumulates under the abdominal skin, but also often accumulates in the abdominal cavity and internal organs. Its veins lead to the hepatic portal vein and enter the liver. The fatty acids released will directly burden the liver.
